September 2001
Because of a couple of problems, RM 254 only had two outings in 2001. September 23rd was a dull and showery day but at 'EFE Showbus International' our bus took the award for Best AEC/Park Royal vehicle. The prize, sponsored by Marshalls, consisted of a small cash payment and a mounted model bus.

Very sadly, RM 254 didn't make it to the
Leicester Mercury Historical Vehicle Pageant. On arrival at the site where she's kept, Graham Rixon, who was to drive her, discovered that the special oil, which is in the power steering, was very low. He was unhappy at the prospect of a long motorway journey with little or no power steering so the decision was taken, reluctantly, to leave 254 behind and take the sales stand by car.

The judges at Leicester told us that their decisions were now very much harder as, usually, RM 254 was head and shoulders above the rest! She had won for the last four years.

As a result, there were only three ex-LT exhibits, two Routemasters and a green RT. They are shown below.
